Polin Museum

The museum and collection

The Polin Museum of the History of Polish Jews is the first public-private partnership institution of its kind, created by the Ministry of Culture, the City of Warsaw and the Association of the Jewish Historical Institute of Poland

This Museum’s core exhibition immerses visitors in the world of the Polish Jews, from their arrival in Polin as traveling merchants in medieval times until today. Each of the eight galleries presents a different chapter of the story of Polish Jews, enabling visitors to come into close contact with those who lived that story through images, artefacts, first-person accounts and interactive multimedia. The design and production of the core exhibition was financed and overseen by the Association of the Jewish Historical Institute of Poland, thanks to the support of donors from all over the world.

The assignment

For the Forest Gallery, we created an art installation: the projection of a 3D film of a forest on a film, which is laminated between 5 layers of security glass. The glass was chosen not only for protection, but to enhance the depth effects by the thickness of the material. A special audio system was implemented and the sound is transmitted through vibration in the panes of glass. We also manufactured and installed an enormous interactive glass prism which tells the story through touch screens and individual audio booths on each side of the prism.
